We time our visit for the noon ceremony at the temples which provides an insight to this interesting religion. Founded in Vietnam in 1920, Cao Dai borrows elements from Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Taoism and Confuscianism and blends them together in an effort to make the perfect religion. Cao Dai means “high place or abode” Following lunch at a local restaurant we continue to the Cu Chi Tunnels. The Cu Chi tunnels were built by local fighters during the Indochina conflict as a base from which the Viet Cong could operate from close to the Southern Vietnamese capital. The location proved of significant strategic importance, at the end of the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail and within striking distance of the southern Vietnam capital. Initial construction started in 1948 when the Viet Minh required somewhere to hide from French air attacks and by 1965, the tunnel complex was estimated to consist of 200 km of tunnels. It included hospitals, schools, meeting rooms, kitchens and sleeping quarters. Life was difficult for the inhabitants and to protect against outside intruders bobby traps were laid throughout the complex. Today the Vietnamese government have preserved approximately 75 kilometres of the tunnels as a memorial park, in some areas tunnels have been widened and low powered lights installed so that western tourists can now fit through the complex. Our local guide will take us on a fascinating trip around the Cu Chi Tunnels where we learn more about the conditions the people lived in, the hardships they faced and the amazing ingenuity employed to maintain life in the tunnels. We walk past huge bomb craters, evidence of the heavy bombing campaigns in the region during the Indochina conflict, discover hidden entrances right beneath your feet, wander past tiny little chimneys in the ground that dispersed smoke from the underground kitchens, sample some of the simple cuisine that local fighters would have survived on and have an opportunity to venture into the tunnels and explore the complex. Following our step back in modern history we return to the chaos of Ho Chi Minh City. Restriction: Minimum 2 Pax The pick-up point is at centrally located hotels in Ho Chi Minh City Children must be at least six years of age and not yet 12 years old on the day of travel. On this trip it is required the any children booked carry their passport with them as proof of age. There may be extra charges applied in the event that any child does not have proof of age. To respect this and for your own comfort, we strongly recommend you wear modest clothing. This means clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Loose, lightweight, long clothing is both respectful and cool in the predominantly hot Asian climate. Notes (Tipping): If you are happy with the services provided a tip – though not compulsory – is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Urban Adventures destinations. Tour Shopping Spree in Saigon

Need to find that perfect souvenir or gift? Our guides know all the best shopping sites in the city! We will take you to both the most popular and most well-hidden markets. Our guides can also help you negotiate to get the best price. This tour will easily pay for itself! Ben Thanh Market is the largest market in Saigon, but it’s not necessarily the best place to find the best deals. Did you know that many vendors in Ben Thanh mark up their prices 100% or more because they know that most tourists have no idea what the “true” price is? Now that there are some “fixed price” areas in Ben Thanh, it’s not as bad as it once was, but for most things, you should still bargain for at least a 50% discount. Saigon Square 1 & 2 has most of the same things as Ben Thanh but with less of a markup. Always negotiate!! It’s expected! For even better deals, let our guides take you to the “real” Vietnamese markets. They aren’t as cleaned up for tourists as the popular markets in District 1, but this is where you will really save the big bucks. Need the best fabric at the lowest price? We’ll take you to a street in Cholon Market where you will be able to find almost any kind of fabric you could ask for. Want to find a good tailor? Let us introduce you to the fabulous tailors we use ourselves. Looking for a nice handmade guitar at an unbelievable price? We’ll drive you to Luthier Street where you can order a custom-made guitar designed to your own specifications. Whatever you need, our guides can help you find and get you a much better price than you imagined possible! The Shopping Spree Tour is 3 hours long, however you can extend it for $15/per person for each additional hour. We recommend booking the “Shopping Spree” tour in the morning when it’s not as hot. We can also design private versions of all our tours for larger parties and corporate/MICE groups. Please contact us for more details! Want a cool momento to show off to your friends and family? We can film your ride (for an extra $35) and create a special video of your Vietnam Adventure! We can also mix in a custom music track in your video upon request.
